Ever since his mother signed him up for piano lessons at age five, Thornton Cline has been writing non-stop. With over 1,000 published songs, 150 recorded songs, thirty-two adult and children’s traditionally-published books, Thornton Cline has been nominated multiple times for Grammy and Dove Awards. Cline has been honored with “Songwriter of the Year” twice-in-a-row and received a platinum certification for sales of over one million album units in Europe. Cline won the first place Maxy Literary Award in 2017 for “Best Children’s Young Adult Book”, and has had his songs recorded by Engelbert Humperdinck, Gloria Gaynor, Rebecca Holden, Gary Puckett, Tim Murphy, Ray Peterson, Billy and Sarah Gaines, Tammy Trent, Matt Newton, among others. Thornton Cline has had his original songs appear in TV and major films.
Several of Cline’s books have made the top 10 on the Amazon sales charts. Earlier last year his song, Catch a Snowflake, recorded by Matt Newton. reached many of the top 10 playlists of radio in UK and Europe. Cline is an in-demand author, musician, songwriter and speaker. He has judged major regional music competitions and has been a speaker for the winter and summer NAMM Shows for the past seven years. Cline continues to mentor, teach and inspire aspiring authors and songwriters all around the world as CEO/president of his publishing company, Clinetel Music. Thornton Cline is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of music education, and a graduate of The University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a Master of Science in music education. Cline has completed all his graduate coursework toward a Ph.D. in music education at the Eastman School of Music in New York. Cline is an adjunct faculty member of Cumberland University and Welch College in Nashville, Tennessee. Thornton Cline performs and teaches eight instruments including the violin, piano, ukulele and guitar. He lives in Hendersonville, Tennessee USA with his wife, Audrey and cat, Kiki.
